Bucks Secure Taurean Prince in Free Agency
The Los Angeles Lakers’ quest for roster improvement has led to a mix of retention and loss. While securing both Max Christie and LeBron James, they’ve parted ways with Taurean Prince.
Prince, known for his “3-and-D” capabilities, played a pivotal role for the Lakers last season, both as a starter and a key bench player. Despite the Lakers’ interest in keeping him, roster constraints made it impossible. Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Prince is now committed to the Milwaukee Bucks on a veteran minimum deal, offering the team a valuable forward who excels in defense and three-point shooting. Last season, Prince boasted an average of 8.9 points and a 39.6 percent success rate from beyond the arc.
His move to the Bucks also means a reunion with Darvin Ham, under whom Prince previously thrived. However, with the Bucks’ starting lineup featuring stars like Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo, Prince’s preference for starting over a bench role presents a new challenge. The Lakers, still dealing with a full roster, must navigate trades to create space for any new signings, a wait Prince was unwilling to endure indefinitely.
