Team USA Dominates in Olympic Basketball
USA Basketball showcased their prowess at the 2024 Olympics in France, clinching a decisive 104-81 win against Puerto Rico to round off group play.
Despite a slow start and trailing at the end of the first quarter, the American team, led by LeBron James’ strategic plays and Anthony Edwards’ impressive 26-point performance, secured a perfect 3-0 record in group play. James, the team’s veteran, contributed across the board with 10 points, six rebounds, and eight assists, while Edwards, one of the youngest players, dazzled with his scoring efficiency. Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis also made a notable impact, especially after recovering from a recent ankle tweak, adding 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.
The team’s balanced scoring effort was further bolstered by Joel Embiid’s 15 points, Kevin Durant’s 11, and contributions from Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, and Stephen Curry. On the other side, Puerto Rico’s efforts were led by Jose Alvarado, who scored 18 points, but the team ultimately fell short, finishing 0-3 in group play and missing out on the knockout rounds.
Looking ahead, Team USA is set to face Brazil in the quarterfinals in Paris, with their sights firmly set on the gold medal. However, they are well aware that any loss from here on out could end their Olympic journey prematurely.
