Team USA Triumphs in Exhibition Game
Team USA basketball shines in a commanding 105-79 win against Serbia, showcasing their Olympic readiness.
With Stephen Curry’s impressive 24-point performance, including 18 points in just 11 minutes, Team USA secured their third consecutive exhibition win. Anthony Davis, despite scoring only seven points, was a defensive powerhouse, contributing six rebounds and six blocks to stifle Serbia’s offense. Bam Adebayo’s 17 points and eight rebounds highlighted the strength of the American big men, overshadowing starter Joel Embiid’s impact.
LeBron James and Anthony Edwards added to the scoring effort with 11 and 16 points, respectively. Serbia’s Nikola Jokic, the reigning NBA MVP, was held to 16 points and 11 rebounds due to Team USA’s robust interior defense. The American team also excelled from beyond the arc, hitting 16 three-pointers at a 44.4% clip, with Curry alone sinking six.
Coach Steve Kerr experimented with the lineup, starting Jrue Holiday alongside Curry and maintaining the frontcourt trio of LeBron, Embiid, and Jayson Tatum. Serbia, missing Bogdan Bogdanovic, saw Aleksa Avramovic contribute 14 points.
Looking ahead, Team USA will face South Sudan and Germany in London before Olympic group play begins, with a rematch against Serbia on July 28.
